The Honor Foundation

Since relocating to San Diego in early August of this year, I expanded my consulting work.  I have been privileged to work with military service members transitioning to civilian work after completing their commitment to their country and branch of service (usually Navy or Marine Corps). My work involves facilitating a three-day workshop centered on: developing a well-written job resume; job searching skills; developing self-marketing skills; how to network; preparation for job interviews and many other key skills associated with transitioning to their next professional endeavor.

Shortly, after beginning this work, I became associated with The Honor Foundation (click for website) – a unique Transition Readiness Institute created exclusively for Navy SEALs and the U.S. Special Operations community.

I recently attended the graduation ceremony for the ninth group of men and women who have successfully completed the 20 week intensive training experience. It was one of the most “moving” experiences of my life. Afterward, I had the privilege to meet and talk with some of the graduates who have invested so much for our country and learn first-hand the challenges they now face as they transition to civilian life.

Roughly 200 Navy SEALs and nearly 1,500 members of the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Community transition each year, most of whom struggle with finding a job after service. During this transition period, many have difficulty finding their purpose outside of the military, keeping their families together, and adjusting to a lifestyle void of the brotherhood to which they have grown accustomed.

At the Honor Foundation, we have one mission: To serve others with honor for life, so their next mission is clear and continues to impact the world. The Honor Foundation has accomplished great work in three short years. Their goal is expand their reach allowing them to support all 200 transitioning Navy SEALS who exit the military each year.
