Very grateful that I am “still standing” awaiting the end of 2016 and full of anticipation for 2017!  A year goes fast – seems to go faster as you get older.

What kind of year did you have — how was 2016 for you?

As for me, the theme for the year was “change” – not the theme that I had initially chartered for myself – but as I look back at 2016 “change” was evident in many areas of my life.  All in all, “change” (some of which was NOT the type of change that I desired) resulted in good outcomes.

During this time of the year, all of us reflect on the past year and then begin to plan for new goals and resolutions for the new year.  I always try to identify one word or phrase that will be my theme for the year. I try my best to weave the theme into all my personal and professional goals for the new year.  Themes that I have used in the past include: Invest … Finish … and Rise Up! …

I have decided that my theme for 2017 will be “Connect”!

Over the years, I have read a lot of articles on Warren Buffet – worth over $75 billion – hoping to identify strategies that would give me an edge regarding my fiancés and personal investments.  It was interesting to note in reading one particular article, that his best advice for being successful was the following:  “Christmas cards should not just be for Christmas but should be for the whole year”.

Buffet writes a letter or handwritten note almost every day which also includes a line of gratitude or a few words of praise.  Buffet knows that without question, whether its business or pleasure, ultimately everything is personal.  And it’s the business and people who endear themselves to others that are the ones which will endure.

As Mr. Buffet says, “Trust grows not form reason, but from the heart.  How people feel has more binding power than how they think.  Besides, life is much fun, when you’re trusted and worthy of trust.”

My theme for 2017 … CONNECT!
